The artist has given the complete sum of his twenty-five thousand pound award winnings to the trust for venues, which works to protect the UK's small music venues.
The star was awarded the cheque on mid-October as his third album the album was declared the top album of the past year.
He has chosen to hand the money over to the MVT, in recognition of the crucial part local spots fulfilled in his initial steps.
"I personally couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I played around the area, and beyond, when I was just getting going," said Fender. "These spaces are renowned, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these locations have permanently closed – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.
Over the past year, well-known musicians including Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by including a small levy to their admission fees, which supports independent venues.
Sam Fender also participated, raising over £100k on his live tour to support thirty-eight local spots across the UK.
The money supported spaces that were facing imminent closure due to issues stemming from floods, fire incidents and personal losses, as well as licensing issues, conflicts and noise complaints.
Some locations were granted financial assistance in improving facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted performers and audiences.
"The notion that revenue from shows in big venues backs the independent spots, where it kicks off for artists like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has stated.
Fender is far from the only musician to donate his Mercury Prize winnings to charitable organizations.
When the band received the prize in the year 1996 for their record their work, frontman Jarvis Cocker stated that the act would donate their cash to the charity the charity.
That year, artist she divided her bounty across multiple charities, such as the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"I also gave a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they required better apparatus," the artist shared with outlets.
In recent years, they contributed their funds to the community center that developed their group, as well as other local music groups.
Also 1994 winners M People donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the condition.
"Winning was sufficient," stated vocalist the singer. "The money was the extra but we could do without the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success touched somebody else's life."
Last week, the trust shared it had saved several local spots in the South East, by bringing them into community ownership.
One venue in that area and The Croft in the city were bought under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by the arts council and music fans who purchase "stakes" in the buildings.
